Privacy Policy

MarginHunter operates text-message lead-response systems on behalf of local service businesses. This policy explains what we collect, why, who it is shared with, and how to make it stop.

The short version. We collect the contact details you give us and the text messages exchanged in your conversation. We use them to respond to your enquiry and book an appointment. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share mobile phone numbers or SMS consent with anyone for their own marketing. Reply STOP to any message and we stop permanently.

01Who we are

This site and the services described on it are operated by Margin Hunter LLC (“MarginHunter”, “we”, “us”), 30 North Gould Street, Sheridan, WY 82801. You can reach us at hello@marginhunter.co.

We act in two different capacities, and it matters which one applies to you:

When you use the demo on this site, you are dealing with us directly. We are the controller of that information.
When you contact one of our clients — a contractor, restoration firm, clinic or similar — and our system replies to you, we are processing your information on that business’s behalf and on their instructions. They are the controller. Their own privacy policy governs what they do with it. We tell you which business we are texting for in the first message of every conversation.

02What we collect

Only what the job needs. There is no advertising tracker, no data broker, and no cross-site profile.

What you type into a form: your name, mobile number, and a short description of what you need.
Your consent record: the exact wording of the checkbox you ticked, the timestamp, and the IP address it was submitted from. We are required to be able to prove consent, so this one is not optional.
The conversation: every text message sent and received on the thread, with timestamps and the carrier’s delivery receipts.
Operational events: when a message was scheduled or sent, whether a booking was made, and whether the conversation was handed to a human.

We do not ask for and do not want payment details, government identifiers, health information, or any other sensitive category. Please do not put them in a text message.

03How we use it

To reply to your enquiry quickly and follow up if you do not answer.
To qualify what you need, offer appointment times, and book one.
To hand the conversation to a human being when you ask for a call, when the matter is urgent, or when the system is out of its depth.
To keep a transcript for the business you contacted, so they know what was said in their name.
To meet our legal obligations around consent, opt-out and record-keeping.

We also study conversation patterns in aggregate to improve how the system responds. Where that work is not specific to serving you, we use data that has been stripped of names and phone numbers.

Automated decisions. Message drafting is automated, and we will confirm that plainly to anyone who asks. Nothing that affects your legal rights is decided by software: we do not price work, approve or decline anyone, or make any binding commitment by text. A person makes every phone call and every real decision.

04Who it is shared with

Four categories, and no others:

The business you contacted. They receive the transcript and your details. That is the entire point of the service.
Service providers who make the system run, each handling only what they need: Twilio (sends and receives the text messages), Anthropic (drafts replies from the conversation; message content is not used to train their models), Convex (stores the records), Cal.com (holds the appointment), and our hosting provider. Your mobile carrier necessarily handles the messages too.
Professional advisers — lawyers or accountants — where we are obliged to involve them.
Authorities, where the law requires it.

We never sell personal information. We do not rent, trade or otherwise disclose it for anyone else’s marketing. Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. No exceptions, and no “trusted partner” carve-out.

05Text messages and consent

We only text people who asked to be texted — by ticking a consent box, by submitting an enquiry to a business that uses us, or by texting us first. Consent to receive messages is never a condition of buying anything.

Every conversation opens by naming the business we are texting for and telling you how to stop. Replies are generated by software rather than typed by a person; if you ask whether you are talking to a real person, you will be told plainly that you are not. Message frequency depends on the conversation; message and data rates may apply. The full messaging terms, including all keywords, are in the SMS Terms.

Reply STOP at any time. The number is suppressed immediately and permanently, and suppression survives any later form submission.

06How long we keep it

Demo conversations from this website: deleted within 90 days.
Client conversations: kept for as long as we run the service for that business, then deleted or returned within 90 days of the contract ending — subject to their own retention obligations, since the records are theirs.
Opt-out records: kept indefinitely, deliberately. A suppression list only works if we never forget you said no.
Consent records: kept for the duration plus the applicable limitation period, because they are our proof.

07Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict how it is used, or object to a particular use. If we are processing on behalf of one of our clients, we will pass your request to them and help them answer it.

Write to hello@marginhunter.co and we will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for this and we will not treat you differently for asking.

If you are in Canada and we have not resolved things, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. In the UK or EU, your local supervisory authority. In California, the rights described in the CCPA apply, including the right to know, delete, correct, and to be free from discrimination for exercising them — noting that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined.

08Security and location

Access is limited to the people who operate the service. Data is encrypted in transit, and credentials are held in managed secret storage rather than in our code. Our providers process data in Canada and the United States, so information may be transferred across borders under the safeguards those providers offer.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you and creates a real risk of harm, we will tell you and the relevant regulator within the time the law allows.

09Children

The service is for businesses and their adult customers. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If we learn that we have, we delete it.

10Cookies

This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and animation code from a public CDN, which means those providers see your IP address as part of serving the file.

11Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes affecting people we are actively texting will be notified in the conversation.
